On the 10th of February 2026, the contract was signed between UNESCO and the University of Belgrade to initiate the UNESCO Chair on Geological hazard and risk mitigation – GeoHARM, for the period of 4 years, hosted at the Faculty of Mining and Geology, chaired by key members of our DEMONITOR team, Prof. Abolmasov and Prof. Marjanović, also including several other members: Assoc. Prof. Uroš Đurić, Jelka Krušić, and Ksenija Micić. The Chair was established to raise awareness of geological hazards under climate-changing conditions and includes various activities, some of which overlap with the objectives of the DEMONITOR project. In particular, the UNESCO Chair is intended to promote the Devils Town site and help initiate its UNESCO global geopark status. This is one of the principal objectives of the DEMONITOR project.
